Supporting families

A range of services are available to support families, including translation and interpreter services, adult education, adult English programs and telephone counselling services.

Speech Therapy

Allison Zadrozny (Speech Pathologist) offers school-based assessments and therapy sessions at Kellyville Public School.  She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sp.Path.) from The University of Sydney and is a Member of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.  She has worked within Kellyville Public School for a number of years and works closely with the teachers.

Helping Hands

An Occupational Therapist is now available through the school.

Melissa Hamilton Master of Health Science (OT) Bachelor of Applied Science (OT) Senory Integration Certification visits our school to work with students.

The National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program

Mrs Jaquie Neale and Mr Gill Carr  are the Student Welfare Worker at Kellyville Public School.

Jacquie  and Gill are available to support students, families and staff and discuss any issues affecting students or their families.  They are available to chat with any students, staff or parents.  Additional support is also available to link students and families into appropriate support services. 

The role is funded by the National School Chaplaincy and Welfare program.

Student Welfare Worker's role

The Student Welfare Worker's role is to serve the school community through the provision of help and to support the personal, social and spiritual wellbeing of students and the school community.  Services could include but are not limited to;

Assisting the school counsellors and wellbeing staff.

Providing students, their families and staff with support and/or appropriate referrals in difficult situations.

The Student Welfare Worker is approachable by all school community members regardless of culture, faith background, age or gender.

Participate in school activities and projects.

Contribute to school newsletters.

Provide support for a range of day to day matters affecting the school community and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people

Participation in classroom activities as needed- like reading groups, special events etc.

Facilitate activities connecting students with other community groups.

Code of Conduct

Adhere to all policy and legislation including that concerning child safety, privacy and confidentiality

Adhere to the Program Guidelines and the code of conduct at all times

Recognise , respect and affirm the authority of the school Principal and work in consultation with them

Contribute to a supportive , safe , inclusive and caring learning environment within the school

Respect , accept and be sensitive to others people's view, values and beliefs that may be different form his own , including respecting the rights of parent/guidance to ensure that it is in line with the family's own convictions

Actively discourage any form of harassment or discrimination

The National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program commenced at Kellyville Public School in September 2012

Participation in any program conducted by the School Student Welfare Worker is voluntary. Families may opt out by contacting the school principal: Jenny Walker.

Complaints procedure:

Any complaints regarding the Student Welfare Worker should be directed to the School Principal, who will then follow internal policies.

Qualifications & Engagement Process

The Student Welfare Worker meets the employment qualifications as outlined by DEEWR in the document: National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Guidelines. They are subject to all the required checks as outlined by this document. The Funding Body is responsible for conducting those checks and providing evidence of the outcome to the school Principal.

Selection of the appropriate person for the role of the Youth Worker is made by the funding body: Youth Ministries Australia (a part of CCCA) in consultation with the school Principal.  The final appointment is made with the Principal's endorsement.

Evaluation of the Program

Annual evaluation of the program is required by DEEWR in the document: National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Guidelines. This is conducted by the Funding Body with support from the school. An annual report will be presented to school community, usually via the staff and P&C.   Following presentation of the report the school community will be asked to confirm ongoing support for the continuation of the program.
